Murders, Myths, and Memories: Agreement on New Title: “Voice of the Victim”
In my last update on my newest book, the new and improved second entry in the Maui Mysteries series, I shared the working title, Murders, Myths, and Memories. I also mentioned that this might change, and I was correct. My publisher and I have now agreed the second book in the Maui Mysteries series will be titled Voice of the Victim. I think we can all agree it is more consistent with the title of the first book, Eyes of the Beholder.
The book still follows two investigations, twelve time-zones apart, as they proceed in real time. One on Maui, led by Angela Beyers, of a shooting in the ‘Iao Valley, and the other on a Mediterranean cruise, led by a Europol agent Andreos Calliopoulos with the assistance of Keone Boyd. Both investigations test the ability of those involved to follow the evidence wherever it may lead, even when certain facts stretch the investigators beliefs. They also test the personal relationships of those involved.
Also, although there are two investigations, there are actually three major plot lines, including a mysterious manuscript containing clues to one of the investigations. That means that I have, in effect, three major protagonists: Angela, Keone, and Rob Lister, the author of the manuscript and victim of the ‘Iao Valley shooting.
The current draft is now in the hands of my Publisher and my editor. I’ll keep you posted on how this develops.
I am now focused on the third book in the trilogy, previously titled Pele’s Fire. For consistency I have changed the working title of this version to Fires of Pele.
Let me summarize. The first book, which you can buy at any of the major online vendors as a paperback or ebook, is Eyes of the Beholder. The second book, which is with my Publisher and Editor and which we plan to launch in the spring, is now called Voice of the Victim. And the third book, which I am diligently rewriting for consistency, now goes by the working title Fires of Pele.
More soon.
