eBook cover for my upcoming book

On July 19, 2022, we plan to officially launch the first book in my Maui Mystery series from Babylon Books, Eyes of the Beholder. I’m posting the eBook cover today and will post the paperback cover in a day or two. With each posting I’ll tel you a little about the characters.

But, you may say, what about Pele’s Fire? Isn’t that a Maui Mystery published by Babylon Books? Good question. Let me explain.

I began writing my Maui Mysteries in 2013 with the goal of having them professionally published. Although I experimented with self-publishing early versions of some of these stories, the first to attract the interest of a publisher was Pele’s Fire, which was published in 2019. I’d written two other stories that took place before the events in Pele’s Fire and one which takes place after, but they needed work to reach their full potential.

Now Babylon has given me the opportunity to completely redesign, rewrite, reorganize these stories and have them professionally edited and published. The evolution has been incredible.

Eyes of the Beholder is the first of these. It introduces us to Detective Sergeant Keone Boyd a couple of years before the events described in Pele’s Fire. In it he encounters an unusual fellow who comes to believe he has slipped through a portal from a parallel universe. Sam Loftus is one of the most interesting and complex characters that I have ever attempted to bring to life. It took me a lot of time and effort to get his story (two stories, actually) just right. I believe you will enjoy traveling with me where his story leads.
